Introduction

Anacrusis refers to the first unstressed syllable of an iambic or anapestic verse metre, musically speaking: an upbeat. And that is exactly how this short piece is to be understood: as an upbeat, a little prelude.
There are six chords at the beginning and end, which turn out to be different arrangements of the same chord. In between, there is a small development of a very animated, but very uneven, almost chaotic structure, which gradually becomes more rhythmically regular until it almost freezes in very quiet lying sounds. Forms of the first movement intermingle with these recumbent sounds, leading into a running pattern that leads abruptly into the six final chords.
